Handicapped Crusaders

The Handicapped Crusaders, started in the fall of 1966 by special education teacher Edmund Hopper, provides social opportunities for individuals with a variety of disabilities.

The group meets the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church of Levittown, just off the Levittown Parkway at 479 Stonybrook Drive, Levittown, PA.

In addition to being served a warm lunch, members participate in crafts and games, have guest speakers, and interact with one another in a variety of other activities. The members have a large Christmas mas party with DJ Mike and games, as well as a Spring Hawaiian Luau. Many musical activities are also held throughout the year.

The Handicapped Crusaders is funded by $10 yearly dues from members and by donations from volunteers, family members, church members and other organizations.

Members range in age from 21 to 76, and have a wide range of disabilities, including those who are blind, mentally challenged and physically disabled.
